Picacho Hills was established over 30 years ago and had originally began with the homes built around the golf course and country club. Picacho Hills has steadily grown over the last three decades to include more than 800 homes divided up into many smaller neighborhoods including, “Old Picacho Hills”, Fairway Village, Coronado Ridge, Butterfield Ridge, Fairway 18 and other areas.

Picacho Peak is a 4959-foot high within walking distance of the community. The recreation area has over 15 miles of mountain biking, hiking, and equestrian trails. The 1.5 mile trail to the peak provides spectacular views of the Mesilla Valley and the Organ Mountains. Although most of the recreational use occurs on the peak, there are also large canyons and mesa tops to explore.
